In IDES we learn to develop our Problem Based Learning skills // PBL .
What is PBL?
Via a three stage process of Problem-Research-Solution, students here develop skills to solve a common issue from a client/shareholder. Instead of having lecturers to assist and implemet the work onto students, they take on the role of facilitators in a sense they facilitate the students processing and learning skills to achieve learning.
In this project the given Problem was how to make Apex Harmony Lodge - a residential resort for elderly demntia residents that focus on sensory and continuity to accomplish a sense of belonging more efficient and suggest improvements or relative A&A works.
In the Reasearch stage students are invited to collaborate with students from the Interior Architecture Design Diploma to collaborate and produce a collborative model. Equipped with the creative thinking of a Designer and the Analytical/Logical thinking of a Sustainable Engineer, this project woudl result in the first ever collaboration between the two diplomas.
The Solution?
To design a space that is nostalgic and exciting via sensory features such as tangible and green features to emulate their Golden Days.
